This Valentine's day we ate rather generous portions of our favourite Red Velvet cake, somewhere in between school, and spin class, and studying. Last valentines day, Ryan found a mega cheap deal on a nights stay at a hotel at Lake Las Vegas. (Thank you Groupon!) In January, we finally got around to actually booking the room.
We had no idea how fancy the place was so we were dressed as scrubbers and didn't quite fit in with the decor. We spent a fun afternoon checking out the lake, and the village around the hotels. We were particularly excited to find among the restaurants an Irish Pub, complete with sausage rolls on the menu. Naturally, we couldn't say no to that (or I couldn't anyway) so we feasted on sausage rolls, and fish and chips, and bangers and mash. We may have been a little over excited to find pub fare, but it was almost the real deal.
Clearly, we're not deserving of our status as Nevada residents just yet. Until our little stay-cation I thought Lake Las Vegas and Lake Mead were one and the same. Now I know there's one significant difference- you're ok wearing flip flops to one of the Lakes, the other one requires a serious pair of high heels. Better luck next time.
