PANDA WATCH

As the 'No Refunds' sign at the entrance indicates, the Las Vegas Zoo leaves a lot to be desired. Too small to warrant a car park, too hot for most any animal besides the African land tortoise, and too scary of a location to attract many visitors; it really is a sad little place.

In San Diego we got a lesson in what a real Zoo looks like.

Charlotte trying to figure out which of the sprawling exhibits to visit first.

The petting Zoo was the clear choice. Though she got a little too close for some of the Goats comfort, she didn't get rammed by any of them this time so she's making definite progress.

We walked through rainforest and jungle, ventured through the Savannah, and traversed the arctic Tundra as we viewed species from all over the world. And, when our feet would walk no more we boarded the cable cars and saw it all from above. From the 'Skyfari' we took in the views of the ocean, and the beautiful bay and parks that surrounded us.

From that vantage point the possibility of being relocated to the Navy hospital there upon Ryan's graduation certainly didn't seem like it would be the worst thing in the world.
