MOSSY CASTLES AND MUDDY CUDDLES

We landed in Gatwick so, to break the journey up North, we planned a stop at Warwick Castle. Charlotte was at the height of her Frozen obsession so I was really looking forward to taking her to a real life 'Princess Castle.' The only trouble was, she was also at the height of a bow and arrow obsession. On our way into the castle we walked past an Archer in the grounds doing a display and from that moment on all Charlotte could think about was trying her hand at Archery. It was all she'd talk about; it was all she'd think about. When asked if she wanted to go inside the Castle all she had to say was 'I want a bone (which translates to 'bow') like Merida'.

So we did go inside the castle, though Charlotte's face in the picture below pretty much sums up how she felt about it:

The room with the armory display was enough to spark her interest:

It wasn't a bow but a chance to hold the sword was enough to put a big smile on this girl face...

...until she had to give it back.

My brother David and his family drove up to meet us for the day, which was the highlight because I finally got to meet my 2 year old nephew, George, and his cute baby sister, Sophie, who thankfully I didn't have to wait for years to meet. Charlotte was fascinated with David and although she was too shy to talk to him at first she had to be near him. When he went to take a look inside the castle she was determined to find him, and went from room to room calling, 'Uncle David, Uncle David' until we caught up with him.

All smiles climbing to the top of the ramparts with Auntie Gemma:

Shouting hello the whoever was willing to listen

And down at the very bottom of the castle in the dungeons

Charlotte loves Peppa Pig, and Peppa Pig loves jumping in muddy puddles. The trouble is, in Vegas we really don't ever get muddy puddles. Not a problem in England, especially in February, and Charlotte and George had a great time splashing around and getting well and truly muddy.

Having a great time being 'Just like Peppa'. The best part about watching Charlotte play in puddles is that she calls them 'muddy cuddles'. After seeing George stomping in his wellies she was determined to get some 'jellies to jump in muddy cuddles.'

Messy, soaked, and happy:

It's ok to put your toddler in the stocks if they're being grumpy, isn't it?

And from Warwick the journey continued, onward and northward!
