Charlotte's 2nd birthday happened to coincide with a Groupon deal for 6 weeks of very discounted dance classes. Naturally, Daddy couldn't pass that one up. I took her to her first class on the day of her birthday, and while she obviously enjoyed herself it was a half hour nightmare for me. Having to take turns was new to her, and so was being surrounded by mirrors and tulle and sparkly mobiles. She was far too interested in exploring her new surroundings to show any interest in following instructions or even pretend to listen. She spent the time trying to get away while I attempted, and miserably failed, to keep her corralled.
Thankfully, each week she became a little more inclined to listen and join in. This week she danced and twirled and jumped on cue, stood with her back against the wall upon request, and even sat still and listened to a whole story. Of course, it was her last class so we won't be reaping the benefits of her new found listening skills in any future classes, but I'm hoping that they'll carry over into our home instead.
Charlotte calls it 'jump class' and asks every day if it's jump class day. She gets more than a little excited on Monday mornings when her leotard makes an appearance when it's time to get dressed.
At the end of each class they read a story and then dressed up like the characters from the books. The costumes got progressively cuter as the weeks went on...
Little mouse
She went on Safari after reading 'We're going on a bear hunt.'
Murals on the walls...one of the many distractions for the two year olds
They read a My Little Pony book and dressed up as horses. There's a stripy tail tucked away somewhere.
During her last class they had to make a wish and sprinkle some magic in some pretend water...as you do. I was making a wish too...what are the chances that my wish will come true and they'll make their Groupon pricing a permanent thing?

What a cutie?! Her hair is so long now too x
