PUMPKINS, PONIES, AND THE IMPROBABLE

Also in October, we hit up our favorite 'Punkin'  Patch as Charlotte say's. Can you tell she was excited?

And Ryan's always excited for any reason to unleash his inner farm boy. He's a massive horse fan...

I, on the other hand, am not (as you may be able to tell from my distance). They always manage to stir up memories of my brother getting a horse bite to the thigh when we were kids.

This chicken let Ryan pet it for about 8 minutes, which strikes me as pretty bizarre behavior for a chicken. I wasn't the only one...quite a crown had gathered to watch before the novelty wore and we moved along to the next exhibit. Inner farm boy, indeed!

We hooked Charlotte up with a bucket of carrots so she could feed the animals and get the real rural experience right here in Vegas.

We fed the donkey's and, much to my panic, the horses...and then came the adorable miniature pony. Of course, Charlotte was extra excited about the miniature pony since she's miniature too

Here's Charlotte handing said miniature pony a carrot, just happy as a clam. Moments later the adorable pony....reached it's monstrous face through the bars and, believe it or not, bit Charlotte on the thigh. Mummy doesn't seem so crazy and paranoid now!

To distract her, and to stop the tears, we took Charlotte to climb on a pyramid of hay bales, closely followed by a pony ride...which of course is just the ticket after being bitten by one.

It seemed to be just the distraction required and she was all smiles, horse bite a distant memory, as toddler dreams of riding a horsey came true.

But this was the moment the itching started:

That day we discovered Charlotte has a hay allergy we didn't know about. Within a few minutes her eyes were streaming, her nose was running and she was covered in giant hives. Punkin Patch time over. We had high hopes of making some happy memories but it's now January and Charlotte still asks questions like, 'Remember the horsey bit my leg? Remember when the horsey thought my leg was a carrot? Remember I was all itchy in the car? I was all itchy riding the horsey, huh?'

I guess we can answer the question of whether Charlotte's old enough the remember what we get up to in our spare time. Hopefully there's some happy in there somewhere!
